Prior to Vinay being taken to the OR, a disagreement also arose between Swartz and Odim over whether Vinay's lines should be changed in the ICU. In the end, Swartz prevailed and new lines were inserted. Swartz testified that during the discussion she had had with Odim, he told her that she had a lot of testosterone, a remark that led her to terminate the conversation. The operation on April 18 revealed that there were patch leaks beneath the aortic valve and at the ventricular crest. These were repaired. In their report, Cornel and Duncan commented that this was a lengthy operation.
