Pre-operative statusThe night before surgery, Shalynn's condition remained stable. Her white blood count was elevated and she continued to receive antibiotics. She also continued to receive medication intended to open her ductus arteriosus. However, there is no evidence that the ductus reopened. Despite receiving sedatives, Shalynn was irritable on handling. At times, she had difficulty breathing, although her air entry remained clear and her oxygen saturation level high. Her extremities remained cool to the touch and her skin colour was pale and mottled. Odim noted that her kidney function was normal, with adequate urine output. She did not have any chemical imbalances.
